Aged Care Services

Practical home and community support through CHSP, helping older South Australians maintain independence, safety and quality of life at home.

Our Aged Care Services – We are ceasing CHSP services on 30 June 2026

Carer and Community SA has offered CHSP services for many years, but after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from CHSP and will stop delivering services by 30 June 2026. Therefore, we are not accepting any new clients.

Our current clients do not need to do anything right now. Current clients will receive a letter from us which explains what’s going to happen and the options available to transition to a new Provider. A copy of the letter can be accessed via the button below.

Clients can also watch the video and read the information below which outline the options. We will be phoning current clients through February and March to talk this through in more detail and answer any questions clients might have.

We will continue to update our website and provide additional detail and FAQs as information comes to hand.

Options for current Carer and Community SA clients

Option 1: Continue with Carer and Community SA until 30 June 2026

You can remain with Carer and Community SA until 30 June 2026. Wherever possible, we will continue to provide your services through your existing providers. We do not foresee any disruptions to your current arrangements during this time. Meanwhile, we can provide guidance in finding and transitioning to a new provider.

Option 2: Cancel your services agreement

If you prefer to explore alternative provider options now, you may do so and we can guide you in this process. Availability will depend on whether other providers have CHSP funding to establish services and if they have capacity. During our discussions, we will provide more details and ensure you understand your rights to choose your provider.

Finding another CHSP provider

You can find a list of CHSP providers on the My Aged Care website.

Services We Will Still Provide Up Until We Cease Services on 30 June 2026

Domestic Assistance

Domestic assistance helps individuals maintain a safe and healthy home environment, addressing challenges posed by health issues. This includes tailored support for cleaning, enabling individuals to continue their daily routines while receiving necessary help.

Gardening

Gardening services ensure safety while maintaining outdoor spaces, through lawn mowing, gutter cleaning, and other tasks. This support allows individuals to stay engaged with their gardens while receiving help with activities that may be difficult to manage alone.

Transport

Transport services facilitate access to the community, providing support getting to and from appointments, social activities, and shopping. This enables individuals to remain connected and engaged with their community, enhancing their independence and overall wellbeing.

Flexible Respite

Flexible respite services allow a person’s caregiver to take essential breaks. In-home support enables clients to engage in various activities within their familiar environment, providing caregivers the opportunity to rest and recharge.

Social Connections

Social connection services combat isolation and promote mental health by facilitating individual companionship and group outings. These services encourage participation in community activities and the formation of meaningful relationships, fostering a sense of belonging and support.
